Charlie Joseph Senior Citizen Center

Dinner provided by the sponsors of our recent Panama Park Come Together

  • Opening prayer was given by our guest Mr. Foy of MADDADS

  • We welcomed our special guests: Mr. Foy and Mr. Levi Grey
They represent MADDADS (Men Against Destruction Defending Against Drugs and Social Disorder) Visit their Face book page - Mad Dads Jacksonville chapter.  who offer to help in any way than can.  One thing they do is have a walk in the area after a crime to raise awareness.  They will be coming to Panama Park to walk in the area where we had a recent break-in on 63rd Street in the home of one of our Senior Citizens, Jerii.

  • We introduced ourselves and reviewed and confirmed April meeting minutes.

  • Our Park – Parks and Recreation Director Daryl Joseph has not sent us a more detailed list for us to vote on for improvements in the park, but this may be delayed because we have requested more information about LISC and what they can do to match city funds. We will ask LISC and the Parks Department to attend our next meeting.

  • Panama Park Come Together – What a Success!!!  Over 300 people in attendance and many more neighbors motivated to meet each other! Check out the web site: and fb for more pictures.  Please add yours.

    • Comments shared how neighbors were getting to know each other, how great the face painter was, how good the door prizes were, and fun the horses were.

    • Suggestions for next time were discussed including better sound system, shirts for volunteers, and having local talent.

    • Main need is more volunteers. We will be forming committees for next year’s PPCT right away, please contact Roxie McLeod 515-7944 if you are interested in heading up a committee.

  • One neighbor suggested we come together and make a meal for the seniors who come to our meeting location.  All agreed this would be a great way of giving back.
