Panama Park Neighborhood Meeting Minutes

5:45 - 7 total with one new neighbor from Pearl Court area.
6:00 - Open Meeting and Introductions and all shared about their families.
6:05 - Read Mission and Vision Statement
6:10 - Minutes from the last meeting Approved

6:20 - Community Garden Committee
Community Garden Leader Course April 1 - May 20 5:00 - 7:30 ($50) Fee covered if you will work in our garden.
Bill, announce most recent donation to the park. - park benches and picnic table.
Deck and Grant (Still $1,500 short) But all supplies provided including sidewalk, cement, rebar, wood.
Workday March 8

Gerii Vollick will be our Garden Rep for the workshops, still need another as a second.

Call 630-City to ask for an appointment with JFRD to install a free smoke detector.
City Code Enforcement will be on 60th street through 65th streets this next month. Clean up your mess or get cited! We will be looking better soon!
We looked at the Job descriptions for PPNA (see back of this page) Please Get Involved! Volunteers needed.
6:45 – Old Business:
The Latest on Buffalo construction by JEA - Buffalo will be opened up this next month. BUT Lawton will be worked on next.
Public Works word on 50th St. sidewalk #241107-000189 Amy Griffin with Pedestrian Safety Program. Said we can’t have a sidewalk on 50th, not enough shoulder to build on. Maybe in a couple of years when they resurface it.
Need a volunteer to connect with local High Schools - Community Hours opportunity to their students. Agnes volunteered to make phone calls to build interest.

Job descriptions: (Can you volunteer?)
Garden Representative for the UF/IFAS Workshops (one more back-up Rep needed)
-welcome them all to the garden
-help with bathroom info and seating needs
-help the Master Gardeners with paper and supplies
-sign-in (sign waivers)
-report back to the neighborhood association on attendance and topic of the workshop
Public Relations/Marketing (position is open)
-Knowledge of posting in tik-tok, Instagram, face book, next door, other social media
-Able to learn Wix to keep the web site updated
-Willing to be at all events like garden workdays and meetings to take pictures
-Find an apprentice to train so that when you cannot be present or free, they could take your palce.
-Able to create announcements and flyers for events.
Secretary/Treasurer (position is open)
-Take notes at each meeting
-Write up notes and get them to PR person to post on website within one week of meeting
-Send out follow up reminders after the meeting for action items
-Call ahead to book the room for meetings
-Send reminders to those with signs to put their signs up (3 days before meeting and after meeting)
-Create Meeting agenda for next meeting
-Send out reminders for the meeting and for other events.
-Select and train a second for when you are not available
Garden Manager (position is open - Garden course cost covered if you are interested)
-Build interest and attendance to work days
-Announce the work days and times (work with the PR person)
-Arrange for the activities and lead in workdays
-Log plants, soil, water, and harvest
-plan future beds and crops
-Inventory tools and keep a running list of needs
Last Meeting Highlights
Thursday, March 27, 2025
We shared delicious food, met a new neighbor, and discussed Garden Deck progress, and City events. Construction on Buffalo Street sewer will be completed this month, and JEA will next work on Lawton.
The City Code Enforcement will be inspecting and looking for blight and overgrown grass in our neighborhood throughout the month of March. Please mow, weed eat and clear up debris so they don't have to write many tickets.
