PP Neighborhood Meeting Minutes
Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, 5:30 - 6:45 PM
Charlie Joseph Senior Citizen Center
5:30 - We had 11 neighbors show up to share a meal.
5:50 - Open Meeting and Introductions by sharing memories of first days of school.
6:00 - Minutes from the last meeting were accepted
Moved: Agnes Seconded: Rob Accepted: All in favor
6:05 - Panama Park Neighborhood Association Mission and Vision brought by the Committee and they suggested two vision statements.
Mission Statement: “Cultivating a flourishing neighborhood by leveraging our resources to build a safe, resilient and inclusive community and promote neighborhood pride.”
Suggestions were these two:
"Empowering Our Panama Park Neighborhood: Uniting for a Thriving Community."
“Uniting Panama Park Neighbors to produce a thriving community”.
Discussion was open, but all voted on the second one below with all in favor.
Moved: Angela Seconded: Reginald Accepted: All in favor
6:25 - Community Garden – Committee Report

Next Garden Meeting will be at 5:00 PM right before our Sept. 28 meeting.

Work-day Saturday the 2nd. – a verity of jobs depending upon donations.

City has been told about the pickleball idea for our courts.
-
We discussed signage at our garden – suggestions were made:
Sponsors on separate signs hung on the fence.
An information board that tells of events, when to harvest, sponsors, how to donate, etc.

City has a landscape architect who will draw up a plan for our flyer.

White Harvest Farms visit. – heavily funded by city council.

Angela is still perusing information on the garden at 17th and Davis.

The Mouth? – James Eddie was not present to give us an update.

Donations – methods to give were explained.

Discussion of Garden Manager and some were suggesting Bill. We will meet with Bill and talk about the job requirements. He did not agree… yet.
6:35 – Old Business:
Date for Meet Your Neighbor Day - Sept. 30th. More details in next meeting.

We had 11 neighbors show up to share a meal.
Next Garden Work Day:
Saturday, Sep. 2nd 8:00-11:00 AM
1. We welcomed librarian Jonathan who came and was able to issue library cards at the meeting! He will return to let us check out books any time we need him.
2. The vote was unanimous on our new Vision Statement:
"Uniting Panama Park Neighbors to produce a thriving community."
3. Meet Your Neighbors Day is coming up on September 30th, we will give you ideas of what to do at our next meeting.
