PP Neighborhood Meeting Minutes

Thursday, July 27, 2023, 5:30 - 6:45 PM

Charlie Joseph Senior Citizen Center

 

Before meeting, food was blessed by Roxie and we enjoyed food provided by all that attended.

Meeting was attended by 11 of our neighbors.

 

Meeting is called to order by Roxie at 5:54pm 

 

Minutes from last meeting Agnes motioned to approve Kristie 2nd

 

Mission statement was read and a committee formed to keep it moving forward. Agnes and Tom will sit on this committee.

 

6:00 Introduction was done. This was missed at the beginning of the meeting. Each person said their name and how to beat the heat.

 

6:05 talked about the Jax parks survey www.imaginejaxparks.com/participate

 

Suggestions of turning the tennis court into pickleball as well. (Roxie will tell the city Parks dpt.)

 

Exercise equipment was also brought up and asked about by Kristy.  Roxie said that there was not enough interest in the equipment for the parks to put in any.

 

6:10 meeting signs have been being stolen. Most feel that it's kids and not the city. Victor took a sign to put in his yard.

 

6:15 Committee Report - Community Garden -  

There was a vote to let the City make our Community Garden sign. 

Suggestion to get the football team that uses the park involved as well.   

Next Garden meeting 5:00 pm  Aug 24

Next Work day Wednesday  Aug 16 meet at the park

Last work day was July 8 . We had 5 people who worked and cleared the fence line.

 

Old Business

Meet your Neighbor Day -  Need to set a date. Nothing determined except that it needs to be cooler weather. 

 

Aug , 7, 9, and 10th a block party is a welcome to Summer  taking place at Joseph Senior Center. Bring the family for fun.

 

New Business 

Police in our community are not doing the proper job. Was reported in the meeting that a JSO officer did not report an incident that happened at our local gas station when a gun was pulled on one of our members. She was informed by other members that she should still report it to the Zone captain in our area.

 

There was a vote to see if any are interested in James checking on the availability of fencing for the garden and the “mouth” for decoration.  

​

There was a suggestion to “Adopt-A-Road”.  Will bring up next month. (Buffalo)

Kristie moved to end the meeting.
It was seconded by Agnes.
