PP Neighborhood Meeting Minutes
Jan. 26, 2023  

 

Thursday, Jan 26, 2023  5:30 - 6:45 PM

Charlie Joseph Senior Citizen Center

(We thank Diane for staying late to keep the lights on for us)

 

5:30 - We had 4 neighbors bring food to share. 
5:45 - Roxie opened the meeting with prayer
5:55 - Introductions included a new neighbor (to the meetings who brought many great questions).  She came because she saw the sign (The association voted to order more signs with on neighbor reminding us to advertise, advertise).


6:05 - Minutes from the last meeting - Agnes Fredericks moved we accept, Roxie McLeod seconded and all were in favor of accepting the meeting notes. 

 

6:10 – Testimony from a neighbor (Mrs. Kennedy) was shared about being so proud of her neighborhood and was prompted to share after the neighborhood association sang carols at her house. 

 

6:12 – Roxie gave a report on the Community Garden proposal – the Parks Dpt. Are sounding positive and will meet with us next week to review the possibilities.  Anyone interested in being in on the very beginnings can call Roxie (904) 515-7944.

 

6:30 – Neighbor James Eddey shared how our counsel representative will change as the map has changed and we are now located in district 10. (in March our new counsel person will be Ju’Coby Pittman) Also, call 630City  when you see something (like the huge hole in Lawton)  Please, everyone call and the more calls, the more quickly they will act.    

 

6:45 – talk of interviewing some of our neighbors who have lived here for years and years.   And Putting it on you tube, and our website, nextdoor, and our facebook page.  Zoya may be interested in helping with this.  Roxie will follow up on this discussion.

After sharing a pot-luck dinner the meeting notes were approved.

We heard the good news that the city was favorable toward our community garden (meeting set for next week to meet with them). 

 

Our city council district number has changed and in March are new council person will be Ju’Coby Pittman.  See something that needs fixed, call 630-City.  Please call in the large hole in Lawton, the more who call, the more quickly it will be repaired.
