5:30 - We had 7 neighbors share meat balls, mac n cheese and green beans with Mary’s peach turnovers.
5:45 - Roxie opened the meeting with prayer and introductions included favorite Halloween costumes created.
6:00 - Minutes from the last meeting - Agnes moved we accept them, Mary seconded, and all were in favor.
6:05 – TAKE NOTE – We all discussed and agreed upon a change in the normal meeting date of 4th Thursday due to Thanksgiving, we will meet the 3rd Thursday, November the 17th. For December, we will still meet on Thursday the 22nd (4th Thursday)
6:10 - Community Garden –
-A copy of the draft for a letter to the City Parks Dept. was handed out. It is asking for the use of the corner of Panama Park. Any suggestions for revision or writing this request is welcome! (see Attachment # 1 for draft).
6:15 -Survey Hike – We all took a walk to the park to measure out the size possibilities of our Community Garden and to discuss possible location. We agreed that the first phase could be as small as 40’ x 40’, how ever we would like to ask for a space of 120’ x 80’ in the North East corner of the park where there is a Buffalo access opening in the fence, and it is behind the tennis courts where no sports or pavilions exist.
-One neighbor drew out a plan for the garden as well as a plan for volunteers. (see Attachment # 2 and 3)
-A suggestion for was for solar panels to be installed should we need any lighting or electricity.
-Suggestions were made about how to get donations from businesses as well.
Main Need: More people interested in investing time in planning and raising awareness and resources. Please volunteer to be on the Community Garden Committee.
