PP Neighborhood Meeting Minutes
Thursday, Feb.22, 2024, 5:30 - 6:45 PM
Charlie Joseph Senior Citizen Center 

5:30 – 11 Neighbors were in attendance and ate potluck together.
5:50 - Open Meeting and Introductions (Sweetest thing you have done for your neighbor)
Some neighbors shared about sharing food with neighbors, others shared water and juice with city workers cleaning our streets and ease ways. 

6:08 – Minutes from the last meeting (Moved:   James     Seconded: __Agnes___    Accepted:  _YES__ )
6:10 – Community Garden – Committee Report

  • Garden Work-Days March 2nd and March 16th 9:00 AM to Noon -  Boxes built and things planted.  We discussed removal of trees, more investigation will take place first.

  • Garden Leader Training – April and May on Monday nights. (Extension office)

  • Water meter request and electricity up-date. Read letter from Daryl Joseph – in progress.

  • Report on donations progress – Bill announced the news about our fence donation and installation by our Councilwoman and the Parks Dpt. Daryl Joseph in Parks Dpt. Is aware.

  • A neighbor with water tank will help us until we get city water. Also rain barrel is installed.

  • April and May -Monday nights Garden Leader Training at Extension office. 

6:25 – New Business
                 - Please call 911 if you see Jaden – the 13 year old who rides his ATV - 4 wheeler around destroying public property (the park) and endangering himself, the children he gives rides to, and others. If you do not wish to give your name, give the police my name: Roxie McLeod 904-515-7944.  They have to catch him in the act, not afterwords – I have video evidence if needed. 

  • Public Works is sending out people to clean and mow the ease ways each month! Let’s help keep it neat!

  • Agnes and Roxie are trapping cats to be fixed.  They are next trapping on Penrose street.  Feel free to join us!

  • We all went to CSX web site to report the rough tracks on Buffalo.

  • Be sure to register to vote – also you can register to vote by mail.              

6:40 - Old Business:

Report on the Non-profit annual renewal - $135 was raised - all but $65 raised.  ($5.00 more donated today 2-22-24)

6:45 - Close meeting with the announcements below… and reading of the mission and vision.

●     Next Month’s PPNA Meeting is March, 27 (4th Thursday)
Library offer tax preparation for free. Other announcements made – attend CPAC meetings First Thursday nights at 6:00pm.

   Highlights

Neighbors shared about kind things that they have done for other neighbors.

Big announcement: our City Councilwoman Pittman has donated the money for a fence for the community garden AND the city parks department will be installing it!

We had many announcements of how to get involved in city events and remember to register to vote.

Next month our Guest Speaker will be Councilwomen Ju’Cobe Pittman.  March 28 at 5:30PM.
